"Pendule Mystérieuse", 18K yellow gold and marble eight day going Mystery dock with dodecagonal dial Paris, 1947

Beige marble "x" shaped base supporting short marble column with gold decorations in a twisted rope pattern; the faceted rock crystal chat with rosecut diamond-set bands designed as stylised cypresses, framed within the bright polished yellow gold bezel applied with diamond-set indexes, the band set with rectangular marble plaques. Rectangular brass movement with going barrel, frosted and gilt platform with straight fine lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Measuring approx. 30 cm. high. Cartier Certificate of Authenticity N° 2436.
