?Oignon? Dumont Frères à Besançon. Made circa 1700. Fine and very rare leather-covered gilt brass single-hand oignon watch, wound through the center.
C. Two-body, oignon, covered in leather and tooled in gold with elaborate rosette, bezel tooled in gold with repeated pattern, loose ring pendant. D. Chased gilt brass with white enamel cartouches, blue radial Roman numerals, inner quarter-hour track, the center chased with exotic birds and foliage. Blued steel hand. M. 46 mm, hinged, gilt full plate with divided Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with steel balance and short balance spring, large continental balance cock pierced and chased with stylized foliage, rack and pinion regulator with silver dial. Signed on the movement. Diam. 58 mm.
