H.B., German, circa 1600. Fine and unusual gilt brass, oval hour striking prebalance spring watch with fusee and gut-line.

C. Double body with loose ring pendant and button finial, the ribbed centre section pierced and engraved with foliage decoration, the back decorated en suite with inhabited foliage, hinged cover with glazed dial aperture and engraved with foliage. D.Gilt brass with Roman numerals on a silver inlaid chapter ring, inner Arabic ring for hours from 13 - Z4, in the German way, centre engraved with a compass rose. Single bluedsteel hand. M. Hinged oval gilt full plate with square pillars, the going train with fusee and gut-line, verge escapement, plain two-arm steel balance without spring, gilt brass irregular cock pierced and engraved with foliage, secured by a pin, with matching click for the ratchet wheel set-up. Striking the hours on a bell, the steel count wheel sunk on the back plate Dim. 78 x 57 mm.
