C. Double body "oignon", silver overlaid gilt brass, polished. D. White enamel "a bosses " with Roman numerals. Blued steel single hand. M. I-Iinged gilt brass full plate with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, short flat balance spring, rack and pinion regulator, the large gilt brass Louis XIV cock finely pierced and engraved with foliage, flags and quivers. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 56 mm.

Francois Marchand From a well known Geneva family of watchmakers, Francois Marchand became Master in 1687. He produced " oignons " , watches with alarm and repeaters. He was active at least until 1740, since there is a watch of that date signed by him.
