French, Royal exchange, No.10928, with London hallmarks for 1846. Very fine small 18K gold hunting cased, quarter repeating watch with special escapement.
C. Four body, massive, "demi-bassine et filets " by Louis Comptesse (Master marks), engine-turned with reeded band, the cover engraved en reserve with a monogram, and inside with a dedication dated 1848. Hinged gold cuvette. D. Silver engine-turned with Roman numerals, sunk subsidiary seconds, cast gold foliage decoration, the centre engraved with flowers. M. 15"', gilt brass, bar calibre with going barrel, single wheel duplex escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel flat balance spring with regulator. Repeating on gongs with slide in the band. Signed on the movement. Diam. 43 mm.
