Unsigned, French, circa 1850. Fine and unusual silver watch with a rare form of lever escapement.
C. Four body, massive, "bassine et filets, lunettes rondes " , engine-turned. Hinged engine-turned cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 17"', gilt brass, bar calibre with going barrel, 15 jewels, counterpoised inverted straight line lever escapement, Cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Diam. 46 mm.
