Notes

The original Longines Hour Angle Watch was designed by Col. Charles A. Lindbergh as a navigational instrument for airbone pilots. Used in conjunction with a sextant and the appropriate nautical tables, the watch permits the rapid computation of the Greenwich hour angle, that is, the aircraft 's longitude. This watch is a replica of the Hour Angle Watch which was presented by Longines on May 21, 1987 at Le Bourget airport near Paris, the airfield where Lindbergh had landed 60 years before after opening the Atlantic to aviation with this historic solo flight from New York. This watch is a faithful replica, actual size, of the famous post-World War I navigator 's watch, developed jointly by Col. Charles A. Lindbergh and Longines at the occasion of the flight of May 20- 21, 1927. Like the original, the Longines-Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch is equipped with a hand-wound mechanical movement. The model is produced in small series only and each watch is numbered.
