?The Shooting Star? Swiss. Made for the Indian market, circa 1890. Very fine, rare and unusual, 18K gold, rose-diamond, pearl and lapis lazuli brooch with automaton rotating stars. Accompanied by the original fitted box.
C. Two-body, circular, each side with a chased bird?s wing set with rose-cut diamonds, bezel set with half-pearls, the centre with two opposing rotating silver and rose-cut diamond set 8-arm stars above a lapis lazuli ground. M. 27 mm., brass, going barrel driving a six-wheel train for the rotating stars activated by a slide in the side of the case. Dim. 76 x 30 mm.
