International Watch Co., Schaffhausen, "Portuguese Split-Seconds Chronograph", Ref. 3712. Produced in the 1990's .Very fine and rare, water-resistant, oversized, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with round button split-seconds chronograph and register and a stainless steel IWC buckle. Accompanied by a fitted box and certificate.

"Feuille" yellow gold hands. M. Cal. C76240 gilt brass, "fausses-côtes" decoration, 27 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, 5 adjustments, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance-spring.Dial, case and movement signed.Diam. 42 mm.

Notes

The "Portuguese" wristwatch originates from the '30's, when two importers from Portugal requested a wristwatch that could be reliable but with the same dimension as a pocket watch. To please the clients, the Master Watchmakers of Schaffhausen decided to use the best pocket watch movement in production at the time, and they built a large and robust steel case around it.
