HERMÈS LANTERN CLOCK Hermès, Paris, the movement by Hour-Lavigne. Made circa 1940. Fine and unusual, steel and gilt brass, 8-day going desk clock in the form of a lantern.
Lantern-form, revolving on a bracket and U-shaped base, the sides with beveled mirrored panels colored to match the steel, circular stepped fi nial, hinged back door. Brushed gilt with engraved black upright Roman numerals. Steel baton hands. Rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, selfcompensating fl at balance spring, index regulator.
