Very fine and rare, silver and gilt brass, elongated octagonal, pre-balance spring single-hand pendant watch with concealed dial.
Elongated octagonal case, silver faceted covers engraved with Biblical scenes, hinged to gilt brass frames engraved with a repeated pattern. Hinged dial to the case, champlevé gilt brass Roman hour chapter with half hour divisions applied to a silver octagonal dial plate engraved with a Biblical scene. Steel ''arrow'' hand.

Caliber 33 x 26 mm, turned vase pillars, fusee and gut line, verge escapement, circular steel foliot, irregular pinned cock pierced and engraved with wild strawberries, ratchet wheel mainspring set-up work with pierced and engraved gilt brass click matching the decoration of the cock.

Edmund Bull, son of the London Goldsmith and watchmaker, John Bull. He was apprenticed in the Blacksmiths’ Company to Robert Grinkin senior in about 1600 and was admitted to the Freedom of that Company in 1608. In 1622, he was listed as a clockmaker living in the city of London in the clockmakers’ petition to James I in 1622.
