Notes

In 1860, Louis-Ulysse Chopard founded a high-precision watchmaking manufacture in Sonvilier in the Swiss Jura. Among others, it supplied watches to the Swiss Railways. In 1920 Chopard moved to Geneva launching the production of luxury watches. In 1963 Chopard was bought by Karl Scheufele, third of the line and owner of the German firm "Eszeha", founded in 1904, specializing in jewelry watches and jewelry. Production in both sites continued under the name of Chopard. In 1975, the company moved from the center of Geneva to its current Meyrin-Geneva location. That same year, the Chopard France distribution subsidiary was created, and, in 1976, the Chopard Watch Corporation was set up in New York. In 1996 Chopard returned to its roots by creating a fully-fledged "manufacture" in Fleurier, in the Swiss Jura, where a new automatic movement was crafted. It became the L.U.C. watch which was voted "Watch of the Year" in 1997 and which was p r oduced in a limited edition of 1860 examples.
