Known as altar or triptyque clocks, these exquisite desk or travel clocks were the ultimate signs of distinction and elegance from the 1930’s. Made in a wide variety of various case finishes and designs, this example signed European Watch & Clock Co. is particularly attractive as it is mounted on an onyx base and has, unlike the majority with a top winder, its winder is hidden at the back of the clock which meant that a further two doors had to be installed on the reverse. Kept in exquisite condition, it is one of the best examples of a Triptyque that we have had the pleasure of o"ering.
