Made circa 1930. Very fine and rare, silver, 8-day going desk clock. Accompanied by the original Cartier gold-tooled brown travelling case and key.

Rectangular, polished, stepped base, top with presentation inscription Silvered and matte, Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, center engine turned with "sunburst" pattern. Luminous hands. DIAM. 118 x 70 x 50 mm. Charles Alison Scully was an American banker (born in Pittsburgh) in 1887. He served as Captain in the 51st Infantry 6th Division. After passing his bar in Philadelphia, he served as vice-president of the New York National Bank of Commerce from 1923 to 1929 when he received at that point the clock as a gift for his work. He also became famous as an author when he published 2 books: The course of the silver Greyhound (1936), which was to become a reference in insurance guides and The Purchase of common stocks as Trust investments (1937)
