Cartier, France, No. 47720, circa 1920. Unusual 18-carat gold watch in form of a pocket sun dial with a compass.
Oval case, the cover engine-turned with an off set dial aperture, the back engraved as a pocket sun dial with a small compass. Mat silver dial with Roman numerals. Blued steel " bâton" hands. Fine 9 ' rhodium plated movement, "faussescôtes" decoration, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance with screws, adjusted for temperature isochronism and three positions, self compensated balance spring. In very good condition. Dim. 45 x 33 mm.
