Pearl and Diamond Diadem / Necklace probably Dutch, late 19th Century, modified in 1934 by Cartier
Designed from graduating, open oval sections centering a natural pearl with radiating, round diamonds accents, topped with a natural pearl, these sections alternating with a stylised, diamondset fleur-de-lys section, each topped with a natural pearl, mounted in silver topped yellow gold. The special diadem fitting is detachable and a flexible diamond-set chain extension can be attached, transforming the piece into a flexible necklace.
