SPLIT-SECONDS CHRONOGRAPH GOLD H. Meylan, Brassus, Swiss, No. 6874, case No. 49594. Made circa 1900 for the American market. Very fine and rare, keyless, 18K gold pocket watch with split- seconds chronograph.
Four-body, "bassine", solid, polished, co-axial crown for the start/stop and returnto- zero of the chronograph, button for the split-seconds at 11. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute and chronograph divisions with 5-minute red Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial. Blued steel spade hands. Cal. 18''', rhodium plated, "fausses cotes" decoration, 19 jewels, the center jewel in a screwed gold chaton, straight-line lever escapement, adjusted cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometer regulator.
