No more than 15 pieces of this type were made by Breguetin the 1980?s and their retail price then was FF 800?000,(approx. $ 125,000).King Hassan II (1929-1999). A man of intelligence and taste, who was among the many important clients Cartier served throughout history.Prince Moulay Hassan was born in Rabat in 1929, son of Mohamed Ben Youssef, King Muhammed V of Morocco. His education was conducted according to his country?s tradition together with a European influence. At a young age, his father involved him in public affairs, allowing him at 14 years old to assist at the Anfa secret meeting with President Roosevelt in 1943. He attended the University of Bordeaux to study Law.In 1956, with the independence of Morocco, The Prince was placed in command of the Royal Armies and in 1957 his father named him successor to the throne. In 1961, following the sudden death of his father, Prince Moulay Hassan succeeded to the throne and became King Hassan II of Morocco.Among the King?s great achievements is his success in 1975-1976 to mobilize the whole nation for the marche verte (the Green March) to ensure the annexing of the western part of the Sahara.
