Very important text by Breguet, on a large in-folio page, recto-verso, concerning "Horloges astronomiques doubles et les montres doubles", and the principle of resonance in clocks.A-L Breguet explains the advantages offered by his "double" clocks and watches (that is, with two movements and two pendulums), the manner in which the two pendulums influence each other, thus affording greater regularity to garde-temps. He offers his observations concerning the phenomenon of resonance, in which a pendulum at rest is set into motion by the pendulum in motion.
C. Enclosed is an in quarto note from 1822, a journal de marche comparing the double clock in the Tuileries with the régulateur de travail of A-L Breguet. The Tuileries regulator is in fact the Breguet regulator N° 3177 bought by Louis XVIII in 1821, today in the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris.
