Breguet et Fils, No. 4806, Horloge Marine a Deux Barillets, Petit Modele sold to Monsieur Quesnel Aine, on May 27, 1830, for 2400 Francs. Very fine and very rare, mahogany and brass cased two-day marine chronometer with eccentric dial and double-ended ratchet key.
C. Brass bowl with screwed glazed bezel and gimballed in a three-body mahogany box with glazed panel in the top under a spring loaded hinged lid, brass fittings and blued steel fastening screws, special gimbal lock operated by a lever which locks both the gimbal and lifts the bowl. D. Matte silvered, eccentric, the hour and minute dial with radial Roman numerals and outer dot minute markers, Arabic ten-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds below. Blued steel ?spade? hands. M. 94 mm., brass, two going barrels wound separately, train under the dial, navette-shaped platform (No. 151) with spring detent escapement mounted in front of the barrels, bimetallic compensation balance, four meantime adjustment nuts, two temperature screws, jewelled escapement, balance with diamond endstones, helical balance spring, the lower stud adjustable horizontally and vertically. Dial signed and numbered. Diameter of bowl. 87 mm., Box dim. 185 x 210 x 190 mm.
