"Moses" Unsigned, attributed to Dubois, Neuchâtel, No. 1, circa 1800. Extremely rare and very fine large 18K pink gold, enamel and pearl-set watch, probably the first ?Moses? automaton, with independent Jacquemart quarter-repeating on a bell and special escapement.

C. Three body, massive, polished, with the bell mounted in a highly unusual way to the band, wound from the back. D. Small eccentric white enamel with Arabic chapters, gilt outer minute track. Gold "spade" hands. Set at the left of a gold plate finely enameled with the people of Israel against Mount Sinai, the all-seeing eye of the God in the background in translucent gold, with applied raised varicolored gold plate chased with rocks, foliage and figures of Moses and five supplicants, a cave below revealing a further plate decorated in enamel and engraved gold with applied gold cherub jacks flanking an altar to Love. M. 53 mm. (23 1/2???), frosted gilt full plate with fixed barrel, virgule escapement, brass escape wheel, plain brass three-arm balance with flat balance spring, skeletonized polished steel cock, highly polished steel-work set on the backplate, repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant, the automaton of complicated combination of wheels, levers, racks and cams is activated by the same pendant, via switch lever protruding from under the dial at 1 o?clock. Punched on the movement with numeral "1", case punched with Neuchâtel chevron gold mark, casemaker?s mark "FTD" and number 4536. Diam. 66 mm.

C. Made entirely of gold and enamel in the form of a double-barreled flintlock pistol, conjoined hexagonal barrels in translucent dark blue enamel over flinqué with gold scrollwork simulating damascene work, the opening set with diamonds and terminating with hinged panel enameled on the outside with black enamel and inside painted with a bird among flowers, the gold pan sides with rectangular gold plaques with concave corners, one depicting a sleeping lion, the other an antelope with black enamel border in diamond-set frame, the bottom of the pan decorated with a pattern of alternating straps of gold and black enamel, the grips with translucent scarlet enamel over engine-turning with pearl-set rosette in the middle with rose-cut diamond in the center, lower edge set with half pearls, upper edge decorated with wreath of laurel leaves made of graduated half pearls and black enamel, the back of the grip decorated with gold and black enamel fine crossing pattern with scrolling set with graduated half pearls. The top edge set with half pearls, gold matted and engraved hammers, the head of the flint vise engraved with lion?s heads, gold vise nuts terminated with diamonds, agate flints, gold pan covers mirror polished inside and engraved with acanthus leaves on the outside with their springs terminating with diamonds, opening under the right pan cover for sound, three barrel-like ramrod pipes, the ramrod containing the key for the watch. Rectangular, two tier, each slightly different, 115 x 29 mm, brass, reversed fusee and chain, six cams set on the extension of the second wheel arbor controlling the sound (whistle), the bird?s movements (turning, flapping wings, opening the beak and moving tail) controlled by two cams set on the same arbor between the plates, unusual mechanism for lifting and retrieving the bird, where both functions have their own mechanisms, each with its own spring, circular bellows. Punched with unidentified mark on chain ring of one of the pistols. Dim. Length 145 mm., width 38 mm.

La leçon de chant Frères Rochat, Geneva, No. 120, made for the Chinese market, circa 1815. Exceptional and unique large rectangular 18K gold and enamel pearl- and diamond-set large singing bird box featuring two birds with rare forward movement of the head and body.

C. Four-body, the center of the front lid with aperture for large very finely painted on enamel medallion with flowers and fruits, which when lifted reveals two birds rising over a realistically painted enamel nest with straw and flowers and champlevé enamel border. Between them is a vase with diamond-set flowers, at which the birds appear to peck. The birds rotate, turn their heads, move their heads back and forth, lean forward, flap their wings and and tails and open their beaks to sing, one after the other. The top panel decorated with gold scrolling and champlevé foliate and floral patterns against pink champlevé enamel, outer edges and aperture set with half pearls, one side hinged revealing the key compartment. Side panels and the base decorated with translucent green enamel over double pattern engine-turning with frames of white and pink champlevé enamel and blue enamel flowers. M. Rectangular, 100 x 65 mm. brass, large going barrel, twelve cams and a whistle with sliding piston for the song?s modulation. The cams rotate four times per song and lift one step every rotation, allowing a long duration of singing. Addfitional set of four cams mounted on the extension of the third wheel for controlling the bird movement. Cam and fusee-like chain controlling the raising of the medallion and the birds. Punched with the maker?s mark FR and serial number on the inside of the front plate. Diam. 105 x 72 x 40 mm.

Front decorated with exceptionally fine engine-turned decoration with aperture for the dial and the balance, bezels set with emeralds and half pearls, small rectangular engraved base finished with alternating emeralds and half pearls, hinged bottom revealing the mirrored compartment, cylindrical top decorated with translucent green enamel leaves on matte background finished with a ring of alternating emeralds and half pearls, rocaille stopper decorated with emeralds and half pearls which also unscrews to reveal the key for the watch and the music, edges and sides with laurel leaf and flower decoration in translucent green, blue and white enamel and half pearls, the back decorated with flinqué similarly to the front, a central medallion with a very finely chiseled lady reading under a tree in varicolored gold, both front and back panels are hinged to reveal the watch and the musical movement respectively. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer dots for minutes with five-minute Arabic markers. Gold "beetle and poker" hands. M. Shaped like a vase with two handles, gilt brass, fully engraved, going barrel, cylinder escapement with three-arm silver balance with diamond-set rim. Musical movement: going barrel also the pin drum, five hammers striking on 5-bell carillon, adjustable stop levers controlling the strength and the length of each tone, five-wheel train with the fourth one set in adjustable eccentric bushing as a governor. Rectangular, tortoiseshell veneered brass mounted with gilt bronze vine branch applied on the canted corners, rocaille feet, the pediment with pine-cone finials and surmounted by a fine gilt bronze branch of foliage and flowers, the side panel with gilt brass frets, and external bronze handles, left panel with tune indicator, right panel with repeating cord. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Gilt brass Louis XV hands. The gilt brass dial plate with applied gilt bronze foliage scrolls beneath the dial, below six o?clock aperture for music/silence. M. Brass, rectangular, with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, half seconds-beating pendulum with silk suspension. Striking train with fusee and chain, the count wheel on the back plate. Striking and repeating on a bell, the pull-cord repeating train with rack and levers on the back plate. Exceptionally fine, rare and important Louis XVI ormolu-mounted mahogany organ and dulcimer eight day-going, four-tune astronomical musical longcase clock fitted with center seconds, date, phases of the moon and striking hours and half-hours with automatic or on demand tune change.

Mahogany, rectangular, top with canted corners supported by ormolu consoles with acanthus leaves hung with laurel swags, masks of young women mask flanked by grapevines, arched hood surmounted by an ormolu figure of Apollo with his lyre, the front with glazed door with ormolu caryatids surmounted by ormolu urns hung with grapevine garlands, sides with hinged door fitted with a panel of green silk, the interior with mahogany trellis-work, paneled trunk with canted corners de-corated with ormolu grapevines, sides with hinged doors fitted with panels of green silk and with mahogany trellis on the interior framed by ormolu beaded frame, rectangular plinth, dado decorated with ormolu rosettes, canted corners with ormolu busts of young women and acanthus leaves, ormolu covered consoles, rectangular feet fitted with ormolu plaques. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic markers, winding apertures at 4, 6 and 8 o?clock, inner Arabic date ring, set on gilt dial plate decorated with putti at each corner, top silvered arch with aperture for phases of the moon with its age sector, outermost with tune selection sector (Andante, Menuet, Polonaise, Allegro). The striking and music control levers are placed in the following manner: the lever outside 9 o?clock is for striking/silent of the striking movement, when set to the left, the music plays every hour, when set to the middle, every three hours, and to the right, no music, the lever at 3 o?clock controls the carillon: with the lever up it plays twice, with lever down it plays once. M. Heavy brass, three-train with heavy weights, anchor escapement, bob pendulum, rack striking, pinned brass barrel (28 x 14 cm), organ with two rows of 36 pipes and a dulcimer with 28 hammers, large rectangular bellows, control lever for controlling the pitch of the sound on the right side. Very fine and extremely rare, oversized, astronomic, minute-repeating, self-winding, platinum gentleman?s wristwatch with 44 hours autonomy, square button chronograph, registers, perpetual calendar and moon phases and a platinum IWC buckle. Accompanied by original box and certificate.

C. three-body, solid, polished, case back with screws, pyramidal bezel, curved straight lugs, screwed-down winding-crown, sapphire crystal. D. white enamel with applied gold indexes, auxiliary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers, the days of the month, the week and the months, apertures for the year and moon phases. Bâton yellow gold hands. M. Cal 79091, rhodium-plated, "fausses-côtes" decoration, 68 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, repeating on gongs by activating slide on the band.
